County Commission candidate on quest to save lives
Karl Dickey sets up account to promote blood and platelet donations
Boca Raton, FL – Karl Dickey, the candidate running against Steven Abrams for the District 4 seat of the Palm Beach County Commission, is working to raise awareness of the importance to donating whole blood, plasma, and platelets through a continuous blood drive throughout his campaign. A long-time platelet and blood donor himself, Dickey is spreading the word to encourage residents to donate on a regular basis for good health, to help save the lives of trauma victims and help those with various diseases.
Karl Dickey said this morning, “In addition to our efforts to collect enough petitions to get on the ballot, I want everyone to donate as often as possible to save the lives of someone in need. It is one of the most important self-less things one can do for another – so do it today! Go to a Florida’s Blood Centers location near you and tell them you’re donating for account A40. This way we can track the impact we are having to benefit the community. Everyday we hear about or see accidents in Palm Beach County and we give little thought about the victims’ need for blood. This is your opportunity to help others in a very tangible way. How many lives will we save and how many people will see a dramatic improvement to the quality of their life as a result of this drive? I’m anxious to find out.”
Mr. Dickey is working to collect at least 1,269 candidate petitions so he is able to be on the ballot in the November 2, 2010 general election for the County Commission seat vacated by Mary McCarty.
Mr. Dickey’s efforts for the continual blood drive is open to anyone living in Florida. A list of Centers to donate can be found here: http://www.floridasbloodcenters.org/fbc-locations/viewLocations.stml.
