Overby crushes Jolly on same sex marriage in Florida

Lucas Overby is the Libertarian Party candidate for Congressional District 13 and issued a statement this afternoon, July 22, 2014 directed at his opponent, Republican Party candidate David Jolly, on same-sex marriage. Yesterday, July 21, 2014, Jolly reportedly reversed his previous stance on same-sex marriage stating, “As a matter of my Christian faith, I believe in traditional marriage. But as a matter of Constitutional principle I believe in a form of limited government that protects personal liberty. To me, that means that the sanctity of one’s marriage should be defined by their faith and by their church, not by their state. Accordingly, I believe it is fully appropriate for a state to recognize both traditional marriage as well as same-sex marriage, and therefore I support the recent decision by a Monroe County Circuit Judge.” Overby said in respone, “Today, we learned that my opponent has come out in support of marriage equality in the State of Florida. I would like to personally thank him for making such an about-face on such an important issue in just a few months and welcome the Congressman to the conversation.”
