Federal judge wants to get to the bottom of Lerner's mysterious computer crash

Yesterday, July 11, 2014, U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton demanded a written affidavit specifically explaining the circumstances surrounding the IRS’s Lois Lerner’s computer hard drive crash. Lerner was found to be in Contempt of Congress in May for not answering questions during a Congressional inquiry. The inquiry focuses on Lerner’s division of the IRS unfairly targeting conservative groups seeking non-profit status during the 2010 election season.

Obama admin does something right, some proposed FDA restrictions are dropped

Yesterday, June 24, 2014, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) have lowered the health risk rhetoric and proposed rules for e-cigarettes and cigars. The OMB announced it is deleting language from the FDA’s proposed regulations they made in April, however no final rules have been implemented as the FDA will not complete its public comment period until August 8, 2014.

The OMB rule change would still restrict vending machine sales, however leaves open the ability to purchase tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, online. Another change would put cigars into two classifications, one for premium cigars and another for all the others. The OMB also deleted the FDA’s claim as to how many lives would be saved by their regulation of the cigar industry. Also deleted was an analysis was how American’s health would improved due to their slapping a warning label on the cigars.

Senator Rand Paul tries to right a wrong by the Obama administration

In connection with the Science Justice Commerce Appropriations Bill, libertarian-minded Senator Rand Paul is expected to offer an amendment today, June 20, 2014, to curtail “Operation Choke Point” – an effort by Attorney General Eric Holder to put gun stores out of business by shutting off their credit.

Senator Rand Paul has just filed an amendment to the Science Justice Commerce Appropriations bill which will cut off Obama’s efforts to shut down gun stores by drying up their credit. The Paul language is Amendment 3292 to H.R. 4660.

Obama jokes about himself at last night’s White House Correspondents’ dinner

Some jokes were better than others as President Obama and television personality Joel McHale told jokes last night, May 3, 2014 at the 100th annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Washington Hilton. The audience consisted of approximately 2,600 members of Congress, celebrities and media.

McHale headlined jammed the President about not closing Guantanamo Bay as he had promised. It was hard to tell if that joke hit home with the President or not as he continued to pour his tea during its delivery. McHale said, “My favorite was when you said you’d close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay. That was hilarious.”

Obama administration caught in lie regarding Benghazi

The Obama administration has been caught in a repetitive lie regarding its response to the Benghazi scandal. Today, various organizations are called for extending hearings on Benghazi after emails released this week by then-White House Deputy Strategic Communications Adviser Ben Rhodes and other Obama administration public relations officials. The emails were obtained by watchdog organization Judicial Watch. One Rhodes email stated that the goal moving forward is “to underscore that these protests are rooted in [an] Internet video, and not a broader failure or policy.”
